The Mountain Hostel San Romerio
Since 1829, the alp and mountain hostel San Romerio is owned and managed by the Bongulielmi family. In 1989 your host Gino Bongulielmi and his family took the reins over the ristoro and hostel.
The house's main features were built more than 200 years ago and has since been renewed elaborately in several phases.
In addition to the design and furnishing of the bedrooms and the large dining room, he implemented an eco-friendly concept of the water and energy supply. What is easily introduced in a rural or urban environment is only possible with a significantly higher effort at a height of 1.800m.
We are therefore proud to be able to mostly resign from pollutive forms of energy by using natural and renewable energy sources instead.
Where does our Electricity come from?
We mostly generate our electricity ourselves: we use unused water and solar panels to generate electricity.

Use of Natural Spring Water
Our drinking water originates from a natural source, 1 km from San Romerio away. The quality of the water meets the specifications of the cantonal health authorities and is constantly monitored.

In our cozy ristoro we are offering a selection of hearty meals, salads and desserts for hungry hikers.

We are looking for volunteers who want to expierence alpine life and help around the hostel, ristoro and garden, in return for lodging and board.
Our lively family would be happy to welcome you among us for a time. Minimum stay 2 weeks.
